A year after losing to Andre Ward for the WBA Super Bantamweight title, Australian-Sakio Bika has returned to the ring on the Mares vs Agbeko II undercard with a stoppage victory over Mexican, Alfredo Contreras after the 3rd round.

Bika wasted no time as he came out aggressive and put pressure on the retreating Contreras. In the third round, both fighters got into a heated exchange with Bika getting the best of it and causing a cut over Contreras’ eye. The fight was stopped after the third as the ring doctor determined Contreras could not continue and Bika was declared the winner.

Bika ready for the fight of his life

HE has not won a fight since 2009 but former world champion Sakio Bika has returned to the US to prove he is not a spent force.

Bika, 32, left his Kogarah home earlier this month in preparation for a fight against an unknown opponent in the US, likely on December 3.

In recent breaking news former World Boxing Council/WBO middleweight champion of the world Jermain Taylor has dropped out of the Super Middleweights Super Six tourney after the 1st stage of the tourney. Jermain Taylor told reporters that he was going to give his body time to heal and will be back very soon.

Promoter Lou DiBella confirmed to BoxingScene.com that the winner of Allan Green vs. Sakio Bika, scheduled for February 5 on Showtime, will face WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward in the second stage of the Super Six tournament on April 17.

Ward had been scheduled to fight Jermain Taylor, who announced his withdrawal from the tournament on Tuesday.

Teak-tough Cameroon-born Australian Sakio Bika has complained bitterly in the recent past about how he has been unable to get himself a big fight. Accusing the top names of avoiding him, "The Scorpion" has been forced to remain relatively idle lately (just two fights in 2008, just one last year - all quick stoppage wins). But now, according to BoxRec and a number of other whispers on the net, the 30-year-old super-middleweight is set to get a fight the kind of which he has been hoping for.

USA The Contender series three champion Sakio “The Scorpion” Bika sent out an ominous warning to Australian rival Anthony Mundine and the entire super middleweight division with a brutal 1st round knockout win over Nestor Casanova on Thursday night at the Orion Centre in Campsie, NSW. Bika’s win headlined a card by Fidel Tukel’s The Empire group, televised live around Australia on ONE HD.

“Can you please call Anthony Mundine and ask if he wants to fight me,” said Bika. “I have challenged him many times. If you are the Man, come and challenge me. Try to say you are the Man and come to fight me.”

BIGGER doors have opened for Rockdale professional boxer Sakio Bika after he captured the vacant International Boxing Organization (IBO) super-middleweight world title in the US.

The fight card was promoted by the Tournament of Contenders in partnership with Jimmy Burchfield's Classic Entertainment and Sports and televised live to a national television audience on the Versus network.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Sakio Bika captured the vacant International Boxing Organization super middleweight title Thursday night, stopping Peter Manfredo, Jr. in the third round of a scheduled 12-rounder.

The 29-year-old Bika (27-3-2, 17 knockouts) dropped the 27-year-old Manfredo with a straight right hand early in the third round. Manfredo got up and Bika resumed his attack. He wobbled Manfredo with a right uppercut, then drilled him with another right hand, almost sending Manfredo through the ropes. Referee Ricky Gonzalez stopped the fight 1 minute and 50 seconds into the round.

The winner of the third season of "The Contender," IBF #4, Sakio "The Scorpion" Bika (27-3-2, 17 KOs)captured the IBO super middleweight title with a third round stoppage of "The Pride of Providence" Peter Manfredo Jr. (31-6, 16 KOs). Time of the stoppage by referee Ricky Gonzalez was 1:50 in Manfredo's backyard at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI. The shocked crowd voiced their disapproval of the outcome as Bika outlanded Manfredo Jr. and beat him to the punch with punishing hooks that had the hometown favorite, Manfredo Jr. on his heels throughout. Manfredo Jr.seemed timid from the start as Bika instantly found his range and landed without much trouble. Manfredo Jr. was credited with a knockdown in round two which was a punch that landed, however Manfredo fell to the canvas with Bika as it appeared to be more of a push. Bika complained as he took out his frustrations in round three landing a barrage of hooks on Manfredo Jr. that he was unable to recover from.

In a grueling, non-stop action battle, Sakio Bika outlasted Jaidon Codrington, scoring a TKO at 2:18 of the eighth round to win the third-season finale of "The Contender" and the $750,000 grand prize on Tuesday night at TD Banknorth Garden. "That was almost something out of a Rocky movie," said promoter Lou DiBella, who handles Codrington along with The Tournament of Contenders. The finals are now set for The Contender series after Sakio Bika hammered out an eight round unanimous decision over Australia’s Sam the “King” Soliman. With the victory over Soliman, Bika, who now resides in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia after immigrating from Cameroon, is set to take on Jaidon Codrington on November 6 at the TD Banknorth Garden, in Boston. The 28-year-old banger Bika (22-3-2, 14 KO’s) controlled the action on all three judges’ scorecard to post a convincing victory. Judge Max DeLuca had it 77-75, while both Jack Reiss and Pat Russell scored the contest 78-74, all for the rangy super middleweight nicknamed “The Scorpion.”

These guys are throwing wild shots early and often. This pace would be tough to continue. Bika catches Donny leaning in and lands an uppercut. Sergio Mora predicts this fight will definitely end in a knockout. Bika needs to jab more and outbox Donny. The second round starts similarly to the first. Pepe is yelling for Sakio to jab. This fight is edited but I'm not seeing many jabs. It looks like they are just trading power combos. Regardless, it looks like both guys are trying to end the fight on one punch. Buddy thinks Donny is giving the rounds away so I'm guessing that Sakio is ahead. Donny is the aggressor to start the third as he backs Sakio up. Sakio fires off some hard counters that change all that around. Sakio is getting the crowd on his side as he builds momentum. Donny is cut over his left eye and the ref rules it is due to a punch. Sakio lands another big uppercut but Donny keeps coming forward. McCrary is showing he can take a punch. Donny is most likely losing this fight but Sakio cannot coa ...
